School administrators and teachers have a significant influence on the quality and impact of students’ education. Accordingly, states are increasingly focused on finding innovative ways to support and measure the effectiveness of their teachers and school administrators.
In order to help states successfully navigate these complex issues, the SWCC has convened and facilitated a variety of events and discussions related to promoting educator effectiveness. For example, SWCC’s Measuring Educator Effectiveness Initiative has provided a valuable regional forum to inform state policy regarding educator evaluation systems.
Work Highlights
Measuring Educator Effectiveness Initiative
Through this initiative, the SWCC — along with the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality and the Assessment and Accountability Center — has sponsored an ongoing series of meetings to bring together southwestern state leaders and policymakers charged with developing state frameworks for educator evaluation. The meetings provide timely information and opportunities to discuss emergent research, promising practices and strategies related to the design of teacher and principal evaluation systems, and uses of the resulting data.
